Using this site and these terms

These terms cover your use of the Piedmont Advanced Concrete website and any work we agree to do for you. By using the site, calling us or booking a job, you agree to them, so if you don't agree, please don't use the site or book work through it.

When we sign a written estimate or contract for your job, that document controls wherever it says something different from this page.

What we do

Piedmont Advanced Concrete is a concrete contractor based in Piedmont, CA. We build and repair driveways, patios, sidewalks, steps, slabs, foundations, retaining walls and other flatwork, which is the trade's word for flat concrete you walk or drive on. You can read about our crew on our About page and see the full list of services from our home page.

The descriptions and photos on this site are general. They show the kind of work we do, not a promise about how your job will look, because every lot, base and slope is different.

Estimates and pricing

We give free in-person estimates with no obligation. We come out to look because the price depends on things we can only see on site, like the size of the area, what has to be torn out and hauled off, the ground the slab will sit on, drainage, room for the truck and the finish you pick.

An estimate is our best figure for the work it describes, based on what we can see before we start. If we open up the job and find something hidden, like soft or wet ground, buried debris or old concrete under the surface, we'll stop, show you and agree on a change with you before doing any extra work at extra cost.

An estimate holds for the period written on it, because material and labor costs move. Nothing on this website is a price quote.

Scheduling, weather and cancellation

We set a start date with you once you accept the estimate. Concrete depends on the weather, so rain, heat, cold, a late material delivery or a permit wait can push a pour back, and we'll tell you as soon as we know. We won't pour in conditions that would weaken the slab just to keep a date.

If you need to cancel or move your date, call us at (510) 738-1848 as early as you can. If we've already ordered materials, set forms or done prep work, you may be charged for that work and for any material we can't return, as your written contract describes.

Payment

Your estimate or contract spells out any deposit and when each payment is due. Final payment is due when the work described is done, unless your contract says otherwise.

If a payment is late, we may pause work until it's settled and may add the late charges and collection costs your contract allows and the law permits. If something on an invoice looks wrong, tell us early and we'll go through it with you.

Your part of the job

You agree to give our crew safe access to the work area and to tell us about anything buried we should know about, like sprinkler lines, drain pipes or septic parts. You're also responsible for confirming where your property lines are, because we build to the lines you show us.

Our work and what we don't promise

We do the work carefully and to the standard of the trade. Any warranty for your job is the one written in your contract, and it covers only what that document says.

Concrete can crack. We pack the base and cut control joints, which are planned grooves that give the slab a straight, out-of-the-way place to crack, but hairline cracks, small color differences and surface marks are normal and aren't defects.

New concrete needs time to cure, which is the wait while it hardens and gains strength, and we'll tell you when it's safe to walk and drive on it. We aren't responsible for damage from using the slab before then, or from ground movement, tree roots, drainage changes made after we leave, de-icing salts, loads the slab wasn't built for, or misuse.

Apart from any written warranty in your contract, and to the extent the law allows, our work and this website come without any other warranties, express or implied.

Limits on our liability

To the extent the law allows, Piedmont Advanced Concrete isn't liable for indirect or consequential losses, such as lost use of your driveway, lost rental income or the cost of other trades, that come from our work or this website. Our total liability for any claim about a job is limited to the amount you paid us for that job.

We try to keep this site accurate, but its information is general and can change, so don't rely on it in place of advice about your own property. Nothing in these terms limits liability that California law doesn't allow us to limit.

If we disagree

If something isn't right, call us first. Most problems get fixed fastest when we come back out and look at it together, and we'll work in good faith to settle any disagreement that way.

If we can't resolve it, either of us may take the matter to the courts serving Alameda County, California, unless your contract sets out another process, such as mediation or arbitration.

Which law applies

These terms and any work we do for you are governed by the laws of the State of California.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms by posting a new version on this page. Changes apply from the day they're posted and don't change a contract you've already signed.
